Here is a grounds tour of the Church itself. I will be seeking permission to shoot here in the next week.

Main Task - Video Upload

Evaluation - Question 4

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Media technologies were in constant use through my music video production. There were many different media technologies that I could have used but only a select few were used. Our target audience for this piece was 18-24 year olds. The best way to reach this age group would be through social media. Thereby, for this video I set up an Instagram account in order to 'connect' with our audience online. This involved taking various shots whilst on set and then uploading them to inform the account's followers what was going on. However, I didn't use this as much as I would have liked to. It was quite successful though as it got the word out sufficiently.

Another media technology that was used in this video's planning and production stage was 'facebook messenger'. This was mainly used in the planning stage to inform people of our surveys. This helped greatly as it meant that the link to the online survey could easily be shared between a large amount of people very quickly. We were able to share the link with anyone and everyone quickly and simply through this social media platform. We mainly shared these links with people within our target audience range.

As previously mentioned we used online surveys to great effect within the planning stage of our production. With these surveys we were able to quickly gather the opinions of those in our target audience and then make informed decisions, with regard to the music video's production, going forward.

Another media technology that was of great help within our planning, production and presentation was 'SlideShare'. Through this website we were able to quickly and easily upload our PowerPoint presentations to our blogs, embedding them into separate posts to be viewed online. This meant that we could present our work through different mediums, rather than having a normal blog post to view. Prezi was another presentation tool that was used. It was a more technical version of PowerPoint and allowed you to display your presentations with different styles and layouts.

And then, slightly more obviously, we used YouTube to upload our music video. This is the biggest video-sharing platform in the world, so we thought it would be best. Because of this we were then also able to embed the videos directly onto our blogs. Another technology we used was Blogger, we used this website, as you can see, to display all of our work.

When creating my skeleton layouts for my DigiPaks I used the programme Adobe InDesign. I also used this for my final DigiPak. This programme allowed me to easily compile my DigiPak edits for the front cover, back cover and inside pages and put them into the frames that could easily be set. I got the layout for my final DigiPak from a website called discmakers.com. Their website allowed me to download the template straight into InDesign and get to work.

When it came to actually editing our music video we used adobe premiere pro. This is one of the most popular video-editing software in the world, and the one we had full access to in college. We used this to edit together the footage we had into a rough cut/first draft of the video, which we then uploaded to YouTube, in order to analyse the differences made with colour correction. When finishing the final piece we used the fast colour correcter to give blue hue to the beginning of the video, to match the more sombre feel, and then a warmer orange to show the more upbeat later part of the song and video. We also increased the contrast on almost every shot to give the colour pallet more range and depth, this made the blacks darker to make the other colours stand out more. Premiere Pro was really helpful in this way. We also used premiere pro in the production of our logo as we felt this was the best way to make a motion logo, we edited the images in adobe photoshop, another media technology put to good use in this course, and then put them into a sequence on premiere pro.  I also used premiere pro to create the following video, summarising my use of media technologies in the construction, research and planning of my media piece.
