Our Audience Questionnaire has given us an insight into what our final ideas and script should include. We have learnt both what people are generally want from a music and what people generally don't like in a music video.
One of the things we have learnt is what our demographic is. We discovered that the large majority is female and ages 16-18. They are also almost all daily listeners of music, with the preferred genre being Indie/Alternative. It also seems that a majority of our audience think that narrative music videos are the best type of music video, which tells us that we should create a narrative music video as we originally planned. Also, our video should be somewhere between one long shot and lots of shots with fast paced editing, which is similar to what we had planned.
However, the majority of the responses said that a music video should have some element of performance. However, we feel that our video works best without performance included, therefore we are going to add that in. We had started to plan the locations as we were brainstorming ideas, as we thought that was a very important aspect to the visual outcome of the video. This has has been reflected to be true based on the questionnaire, as a large majority said location was very important.
Our video was originally intended to be shot in Black and white, however, the survey shows that black and white videos are not popular, therefore we have decided to shoot in colour instead. Based on themes, a lot of responses said youth is often portrayed negatively, therefore our video of portraying youth as fun contrasts to usual portrayal of youth in the media.
